Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
